There are a few reasons you may be facing issues with geolocation when accessing Betano. Ensure that you've enabled all the necessary settings on your device for the most accurate possible location and check the information below:
- Make sure your location settings are enabled. This applies to both the location settings on your device and the Betano app.
- Access the Betano app settings via your phone (not to be confused with the in-app settings) and check the different permissions that Betano is allowed. If the location permissions aren't already enabled, switch them on.
- If you're accessing Betano through a browser on your mobile device, enable location permissions in the settings of the browser app that you are using.
- If you're accessing Betano through a browser on your computer, for Windows go to Settings → Privacy → Location, and for MacOS follow the path System Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- For more information on enabling location settings on your device, see our articles on Windows devices and Mac devices.
- Make sure you're not using any prohibited software/programs. If you're using a VPN, proxy, rooted/jailbroken phone, location masking software, or location emulator, you will not be able to successfully geolocate, and you'll also be marked by our geolocation provider, which may result in a temporary or permanent block on their terms.
- Prioritize a Wi-Fi connection. When geolocating on a mobile device through our app or a mobile device, Wi-Fi connections are much better at helping geolocation of a device than mobile data. If there is a Wi-Fi connection available, try connecting to it for better location accuracy.
- Make sure you're not playing in a prohibited area. There are certain areas where geolocation is prohibited. Please ensure that you're not located close to the following when geolocating:
- Tribal lands
- Casino properties
- Federal lands
- Part of an intraprovincial highway exiting the allowed province
- An area or a particular house excluded per operator request to stop fraudulent activity
